Even the beansprouts are from Korea! Kudos to Lyn, who made the entire dining very pleasant. She is very friendly and truly goes the extra mile for customers. Thank You Very Much Lyn, I truly appreciate it!! Expect long queue on weekend dinners, which shows how great the food is!"

Aug 21, 2026"Shik Gaek Korean Family Restaurant represents a pinnacle of the "accessible authentic" genre of Korean dining. It does not compromise on the fundamental techniques of Hansik—the complex fermentations, the precision of the marinade, the medicinal depth of the soups—but it delivers them in a format that is welcoming, generous, and logistically sound for modern group dynamics. The "excellent" beef, particularly the premium short ribs, serves as the culinary anchor, while the "must try" banchan and the "fresh" Saba fish provide the necessary variety to sustain interest over a long, communal meal. The Samgyetang stands as a testament to the kitchen's range, moving from the aggressive heat of the grill to the soothing, nuanced depths of traditional broth-making. For the large group (10+), the "2 sets of 4" model proves to be an exceptional value proposition, offering a literal and metaphorical mountain of food that encourages the sharing of plates and the sharing of stories. Whether one is in the sleek, spacious dining rooms of Johor Bahru or the lively urban outposts of New York, Shik Gaek delivers a consistent, high-fidelity "taste of Korea" that is as much about the spirit of the gathering as it is about the flavour of the food. Shik Gaek is a cornerstone of regional Korean dining, a place where the "symphony of the sizzle" meets the "generosity of the heart." It is a destination that demands multiple visits, not just for the food, but for the visceral experience of a culture that truly knows how to feast."
